This space is for conversations about what Benzie Dems are thinking about: locally, nationally, and globally. The moderator will post an article, a thought, a news item, or any interest that might come up. Anyone can comment, or suggest a topic. The comments will be vetted, to weed out ads, or unacceptable language.... we aim for thoughtful discussions, and ideas for actions that can improve our community.

One idea is to identify how many Democrats and potential Democrats are here in Benzie County. For many years, candidates have run as Republicans, because they didn't think we had enough Democrats to elect them. We all know quite a few Dems who mask as Republicans. We know the demographics are becoming more progressive and less accepting of the national Republicans switch to massive deficits, curtailing civil liberties, job losses, and downgrades, attempts to weaken social security and health care for all, and cutting taxes for those least needing them, among many others. We need to elect Democrats at the local level, to regain progressive values through the grassroots service of potential state and national level candidates. We need local candidates. Please consider taking on these important positions in our community,and urging others to do the same.
